–Danny said he won the $250,000 prize by being boring. He, like all the other contestants, left the ranch to continue his weight loss journey at home. Still under Bob and Jillian eyes, Danny Cahill is proud to be the 2009 biggest fat loser after losing 230 pounds or about 55% of his body weight . “I did exactly what I did while I was on the ranch…. I was a stickler about what I put in my body.”
“I feel like a million bucks,” Danny said. “I got my life back.” Thriving amidst a month of huge endings.
Exercising the cynical eye and wearing the TV critique hat is probably the best way to go, most especially when it comes to watching highly manipulated (air quote) “reality TV” shows.
However, even I found my eyes welling up watching the finale of NBC’s hit reality TV Show, The Biggest Loser tonight. After emerging 239 pounds lighter, which is 55 percent of his total body weight, Danny Cahill from Oklahoma took the title of being the Biggest Loser along with the $250,000 grand prize.
Cahill even said that his weight loss changed his look so much that even show’s fans failed to recognize him.
Who knew there was a hunky man under that extra weight? This served as the proof to the producers’ eye for picking out contestants who’ll look amazingly attractive after losing the flab.
This dramatic finale came soon after the scene where Antoine, an early evictee asked the hand of his girlfriend and fellow evictee Alexandra for marriage, evictee Rebecca was awarded $100,000 for shedding the most pounds (139 pounds) amongst all the contestants who did not make the finals and evictee Shay, challenged by Subway to lose weight from now until the next cycle’s finale, with each pound lost equivalent to $1,000 (at 476 pounds, she is the show’s heaviest contestant, tipping the scale at 304 after having lost 172 pounds).
Viewers also watched the show’s incredible CGI trick that let the three finalists stand next to the pre-weight loss recreated versions of themselves just to get a more dramatic visual on the transformation.
It seemed to be that there was a little competition around. The villainy contestant Tracy, well-known for screwing over fellow contestants only to apologize afterwards, looked similar to a female bodybuilder after having lost 118 pounds. At one point, she was aiming to win the at-home contest which was something beyond her at the show’s start when she got hospitalized for several days doing a one-mile run.
For two hours of tonight, all sorts of worry over the show’s intensity of pushing these dreadfully obese contestants will seem to fleet away. It’s the results that really count when it comes to TV especially – now seeing a show that pulls all these previously 300-400 pound people together, sharing tales of triple digit weight losses does exude a significant of, if you may excuse the term, weight.
