In my Certified Nutrition Specialist work, I always try to create delicious recipes that most people would find hard to believe as being very healthy. For people who has a sweet tooth as I do, it’s certain that there have been many attempts to look for ways to satisfy these cravings without deviating from the healthier option.
The big problem with food companies is that what they actually market as “healthy” is actually the same old recipe with a reduced fat content. They compensate for this by augmenting the content of sugar or using artificial sweeteners, which are not healthy.
Below, I have provided a recipe for my famous chocolate-peanut-butter fudge, which is both healthy and easy to make. I’ve used this in many of my loss weight for women and men programs. In just 5 minutes, you can create a very tasty snack without the sugar or artificial sweeteners but with all the right sources of healthy fat.
Here’s my recipe for the healthiest snack, chocolate-peanut –butter fudge (you can choose to leave out the peanut butter if you just want the just the chocolate):
• Extra dark chocolate bar (3-4 oz bar is a good choice – try to find one with at least 70% of cocoa, having between 70-85% minimizes the sugar content)
• 4 or 5 tablespoons of your choice of organic nut butter (cashew butter, almond butter, peanut butter are your best bets)
• 2/3 to 3/4 cups of organic coconut milk (this is a good source of saturated fats from medium chain triglycerides or MCTs)
• 2 tablespoons of rice bran (a good source of additional healthy fiber)
• 2 tablespoons of oat bran (more healthy fiber that includes soluble fiber)
• 1/2 cup raw pecans, almonds, or walnuts (contains additional good fats, anti-oxidants, and a huge number of vitamins & minerals)
• 1/2 cup dried cranberries or raisins (optional based, dependent on your taste)
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• a little stevia to add a little sweetness (This is a natural sweetener that has no calories. It’s a healthier option compared to artificial sweeteners)
To start, you can combine the coconut milk, chocolate bar and nut butter in a medium-sized sauce pan. Take note that you should use the lowest possible heat setting. Stir the chocolate, coconut milk, and nut butter until it melts together. Once the ingredients have melted well, you can combine the remaining ingredients and stir it so that the ingredients are spread evenly.
When everything has been mixed well together, you can then pour the mixture onto a baking dish lay out with waxed paper and spread it. Throw them in the fridge for it to set.
There you go. You’ve just created a most healthy and delicious chocolate fudge! Losing flab abs is so easy if you obey certain rules and keep at it.
Always remember to maintain small your serving portions since this is a calorie-rich snack despite being super-healthy as well. The great thing about it is that it contains lower sugar and calorie content compared to the typical fudge. Plus, it has loads of nutritional value.
